Products Description
The Cable Outer Sheath Fault Tester is designed based on the Murray bridge principle and is capable of locating both breakdown points and insulation defect points with low resistance in various wires and cables.
The device integrates a voltage regulator and an R-type transformer to form a high-voltage constant-current source, featuring push-button voltage adjustment. It provides a no-load voltage of 7,500V and a short-circuit current of 100mA. A high-sensitivity amplifier and galvanometer are used to indicate bridge balance, combined with a proportional potentiometer to form a balanced bridge-all placed at high potential. The specially designed dual-core high-voltage rubber cable employs a four-terminal resistance measurement method to eliminate errors caused by lead resistance.
The control panel is entirely at low potential. With one-button operation, cable length can be automatically entered to calculate the fault distance. The high-voltage source and bridge are integrated into a portable protective housing, making the device high-voltage capable, lightweight, easy to operate, and safe to use.

Layout And Description Of The Instrument

1.Galvanometer: Adjustable electrical balance zero point.
2.Ammeter: Output current indication in mA.
3.Voltmeter: High-voltage output indication in kV.
4.High-voltage indicator light: This light turns on when there is high-voltage output.
5.Display screen: Displays operation content.
6.Zero-position indicator light: When this light is on, it indicates that the voltage output is at zero.
7.Power socket: Instrument working power supply, AC 220V connection port.
8.Fuse holder: Installation location for the fuse in the AC 220V power supply system.
9.Power switch: "I position" turns on the AC 220V power supply switch, "0 position" turns off the system power.
10.Start button: When the zero-position light is on, indicating that the voltage output is at zero, pressing this button is effective. If the zero-position light does not turn on after turning on the power switch, press the decrease voltage button until the light turns on. When the zero-position light is on, press this button to start high-voltage output.
11.Stop button: Press this button to cut off high-voltage output when the test is complete or an abnormality occurs.
12.Increase voltage button: Press this button to increase the output high voltage from low to high.
13.Decrease voltage button: Press this button to decrease the output high voltage from high to low.
14.Select: "Select" encoder switch operation convention: Rotate - cursor movement or number modification operation; Press - execute or confirm operation.
15.Sensitivity adjustment: ①. Switch for built-in battery power supply; ②. Adjust the sensitivity level, used in conjunction with the zero adjustment knob.
16.Zero adjustment knob: Rotate the zero adjustment knob to make the galvanometer indicate zero.
17.Balance adjustment: Adjust the balance knob until the galvanometer shows a significant deflection, then adjust it to indicate zero. (If the pointer deflects to the left, rotate clockwise; if it deflects to the right, rotate counterclockwise.) Observe and record the reading P1.
18.Indicator light: Built-in battery working indicator light, which turns on when the sensitivity adjustment is turned on.
19.Reference phase: The black clip of the output wire is connected to the reference phase.
20.Fault phase: The red clip of the output wire is connected to the fault phase.
21.Charging: DC 8.4V charging port, connect an 8.4V charger to start charging.
22.Grounding terminal: Instrument grounding point for safety protection.
